-
By Janice Castro/Reported by Sidney Urquhart

-
CAMPAIGN SONGS. Bob Kerrey campaigns to Springsteen's Born
- to Run. Bill Clinton kicks back to Fleetwood Mac's Don't Stop.
- Jerry Brown digs Diet Pepsi's jingle Uh-Huh! And the No. 1 pick
- for the Cuomo campaign: My Way.
-

-
ON BOARD. Airlines can't seem to make a buck on the
- tickets, but how about those video games? Carriers ordering
- Boeing's new 777 airliner can look forward to profits from
- Nintendo on interactive TVs at every seat. Bring plenty of
- quarters.
-

-
THE ACRONYM BAROMETER. When yuppies got married, they
- became DINKS (dual income, no kids). Parenthood made them
- GRUMPIES (grownup mature professionals). Now job insecurity is
- producing SITCOMS (single income, two children, outrageous
- mortgage).
-

-
ONEROUS COMPARISONS. President Reagan was determined not to
- be "Carter-ized"--seen by voters as indecisive. Times change.
- Now Bush needs to worry about being "Gorba-fied"--viewed, like
- the Soviet leader, as bold in foreign policy but hapless when
- confronted with economic decay.
-

-
AT THE BEEP. Time was, people put a lot of care and
- creativity into their answering-machine recordings. But in the
- time-starved '90s, people are skipping the niceties and talking
- so fastthatyoucan'tunderstandwhatthey'resaying. Get ready for
- no message, instant beep.
-

-
MOM KNEW BEST. Girdles are back, along with platform shoes
- and pageboy flips. Now hair rollers are in style again. Ouch!
- Pass the bonbons.
